The Mesquite Mine has been strongly committed to deploying solar energy as part of its long term sustainability initiative and life-of-mine transition. FutureProof was integral to the design team implementing strategic solar and renewable energy planning for the mine. Additionally, FutureProof developed mine efficiency standards and recommendations for existing operations with return on investment within three years. In the 2011 evaluation of the property, five solar deployment opportunities were identified as immediately available for development totaling over 9 MW of solar potential and a return on investment of less than seven years. FutureProof participated in on-site visits to Imperial Valley, California, with the rest of the energy assessment team, analyzed thermal processes and renewable accessibilities, and investigated cost efficiencies. The final report provided recommendations to improve efficiency, reduce capital cost and carbon emissions, and increase productivity.
